I like sandpipers. They seem like such timid birds, forever running away from everything, yet they’re persistent too. And they’re just so much fun to watch! Pelicans, despite their ungainly appearance, seem more serious somehow, while the great blue heron is aloof but tolerant. The gulls are, unsurprisingly, greedy. Am hoping to do some serious bird-watching sometime in the next two days. The whooping cranes are calling my name.
