Over the last few days fellow Okie drlobojo has been posting pictures of a damaged icon in an attempt at getting it identified. Turns out it’s of St. Catherine, and he’s done some work getting it refurbished. The result is quite lovely.
- "Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever- lengthening, ever- ascending, ever- improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb." ~Sir Winston Churchill

It IS lovely. Thank you for sharing this.
So glad you liked it — I thought of you as soon as I saw it!
It is gorgeous. I asked him, and I suppose if I really wanted an answer, I could look it up, but I wonder – what miracles were those who held the icon of St. Catherine looking for?
I suppose in drlobojo’s case, it’s a cure for grumpiness or curmudgeonliness
Geoffrey: I’m still trying to figure out exactly which St. Catherine it is. Maybe someone specified in the comments and I just missed it?
In any case, I certainly hope it does not cure drlobojo of his curmudgeonliness as that’s one of the things I enjoy most about him (especially when he’s commenting on the more ridiculous aspects of the conversations over at ER’s).
